Dr. Duke Johnson has been an advisor to the Nutrilite Health Institute for over five years, as well as serving as an advisor to Amway Japan, Ltd., and serving as a wellness speaker for their IBO events.

Prior to his current position as Medical Advisor for NHI, Dr. Johnson worked in preventive medicine for 15 years.

  • Graduated from UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree in Biology in 1978
  • Received a Masters Degree in Kinesiology in 1981 from UCLA
  • Developed and utilized a biochemical technique for analysis of myofibrillar ATPase activity using spectrophotometry at UCLA Graduate School of Kinesiology 1978 – 1981
  • Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles (1979) involving analysis of serum creatinine kinase levels in treadmill exercised patients
  • Published master’s thesis entitled “Exercise Induced Changes of Biochemical, Histochemical and Contractile Properties of Muscle in Cordotomized Kittens” Experimental Neurology 1982;76:414-427.
  • Co-author “Effects of Treadmill Exercises on Hindlimb Muscles of the Spinal Cat” Spinal Cord Reconstruction, Edited by C.C. Kao and R.P. Bunge, Raven Press, New York
  • Graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1984 and received an M.D. Degree and an academic excellence award in anatomical sciences
  • Residency training at UCLA-Harbor Hospital with special emphasis on Emergency Medicine.
  • Worked as an Emergency Physician Southern California from 1985 -1989
  • Received Physician Philosophy Award from St. Joseph Health System – 1987 - It was the highest award given by the system at the time honoring the physician who most demonstrated the hospital system’s philosophy of patient care. - Developed interest in Preventive Medicine after diagnosing heart attacks on young patients (in their late 30’s, early 40’s) in the Emergency Room
  • Speaker for Execufit Health Services – implemented wellness seminars with many large corporations, such as, Arco, Allergan, Southern California Edison, FBI, etc. 1986 - 1992
  • 1997 – Contributing Author to The Complete Book of Baby and Child Care for Focus on the Family Published by Tyndale House
  • 1999 – 2000 Co-author of Japan Weight Management Program
  • Medical Director Nutrilite Health Institute Center of Optimal Health (NHI COH) – October 2005 to present. Prior to that, began as Medical Advisor to NHI COH in 1997.
  • 2005 – Contributing author to Integrative Nutritional Therapy published by CRC Press In June 2006
  • Consultant to Alticor for research and product development, family Wellness, Health Assessment programs, etc.
  • Medical consultant to many successful Alticor product distributors around the world because of continued relationships with them after Nutrilite Health Institute Programs
  • Medical consultant to several Alticor corporate staff and founding family members.
  • Contribute to creation of Trim Body Weight Management Program for Quixtar 2004
  • Film many infomercials, TV shows, DVDs and advertisements for Alticor including such topics as Interleukin 1 genetic testing and Asafa Powell.
  • Has extensively traveled to over 30 countries around the world speaking to large audiences on optimal health. His travels have included such countries as Mainland China, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Ukraine, Braxil, Argentina, Coumbia, Venezuela, Mexico and more.
  • Author of his first book entitled, Optimal Health Revolution, by BenBella Books of Dallas, Texas. USA. Released to bookstores April 2009.
  • Private Life – Dr Johnson has been married for over twenty years to his wife, Tracey, and they have three daughters – Amber, age 19, Katie, age 15 and Bethany, age 5.
  • Hobbies/Lifestyle – Dr Duke lives an example of the optimal health lifestyle he teaches around the world. He maintains a very busy professional life but maintains his “activities of daily living” by making time to camp, backpack, hunt, stream fish, canoe, mountain bike, ski, etc. with his family throughout the year.

Dr. Johnson holds a doctor of medicine from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles Medical School, as well as a master's degree from that school’s Graduate School of Kinesiology.

Dr. Johnson has published medical research in the field of spinal cord damage and muscle biochemistry. He is also a co-author of The Complete Book of Baby and Childcare, published by Focus on the Family.
